Slow stretched-exponential and fast compressed-exponential relaxation from local event dynamics

Abstract We propose an atomistic model for correlated particle dynamics in liquids and glasses predicting both slow stretched-exponential relaxation (SER) fast compressed-exponential (CER). The is based on the key concept of elastically interacting local events. SER related to slowing down events as a result this interaction, whereas CER avalanche-like low-temperature glass state. predicts temperature dependence seen experimentally recovers simple, Debye, exponential decay at high temperature. Finally, we reproduce crossover across transition recently observed metallic glasses.
